What Is Aluminum PCB?
An aluminum PCB combines a copper circuit layer, thermally conductive dielectric and aluminum base to transfer heat away from LEDs or power components. It is a practical choice when your product needs better heat dissipation than FR4 while controlling board weight and cost.
Your production specification should define copper thickness, dielectric thermal conductivity, insulation strength, aluminum base thickness and surface finish.
Aluminum PCB Details to Confirm
Available aluminum PCB configurations include round, linear and custom outlines with different LED pad layouts, thermal materials and surface finishes. Select the configuration that matches your fixture, heat sink and assembly process.
Round boards are available for UFO high bay lights, ceiling fixtures and circular LED modules, with mounting holes and LED spacing produced to your drawing.
Linear boards are supplied for tube lights, light bars, cabinet lights and other long LED modules, with custom length, width and panelization.
LED pad size, current path, copper area and solder mask openings are manufactured to the approved Gerber and assembly files.
OSP, lead-free HASL, ENIG and silver plating are available according to solderability, storage and assembly requirements.

Aluminum PCB Thermal Structure
The copper circuit, dielectric layer and aluminum base work together to control heat transfer and electrical insulation. Production follows the approved stack-up and mechanical drawing.
Heat travels from the LED pad through the copper layer and dielectric into the aluminum base and product heat sink.
Specify thermal conductivity, dielectric thickness and insulation strength according to the operating voltage and temperature target.
Pad shape, trace width, current path, solder mask opening and LED polarity are controlled according to the approved design.

Aluminum PCB Manufacturing Steps
Production includes material preparation, imaging, etching, solder mask, CNC forming, AOI and electrical testing according to the approved manufacturing files.
Aluminum material is cut and prepared according to the approved panel and board dimensions.
The aluminum and copper surfaces are cleaned and prepared to support insulation, solder mask adhesion and consistent appearance.
The circuit pattern is transferred from the approved Gerber data before etching.
Etching controls trace width, spacing and copper areas within the agreed production tolerance.
White reflective solder mask is available for LED products requiring higher light reflection and clean optical appearance.
Round, rectangular, slotted and custom outlines are produced by CNC routing, V-Cut or tooling according to the drawing.
